The NBA and the Integration of Brands and Causes

Today’s conversation is about companies growing their market by bringing together brands and cause marketing.

Join Dave and Carly as they welcome guest Taylor Smiley the lead partnership at LERMA.  Starting with the NBA, Taylor had his dream job – he always loved sports and scored a job with the NBA. He had the privilege of working with NBA Cares, the NBA’s global social responsibility program. After the NBA, he felt called to New Orleans to help the community after Hurricane Katrina. He started the organization called ELEVATE – a non-profit that is still operating today. Today, Taylor helps brands form high-impact partnerships with causes. He’s worked on the Super Bowl, the NBA All-Star Game, NFL, and NBA drafts, and he thinks a lot about the impact of purpose-driven work and the role of major brands.

In this episode, we talk about the importance of knowing your business, the product you produce, understanding the needs of others, and how for-profits and non-profits can use these tactics to improve business.

Today’s topics:

  • How to start a new venture with purpose.

  • Building trust in your organization.

  • Ways to improve your marketing and reach consumers.

  • Taylors ’ inspirational story and career.

We hope you enjoy our conversation with Taylor!
